Joanna Shin, L.A.P.C.
Joanna earned her Master of Arts in Counseling from Geneva College with a concentration in Marriage, Family, and Couples Counseling. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in English from Juniata College. Her graduate training included coursework in counseling theory, group counseling, psychopathology and diagnosis, family counseling, and advanced treatment approaches for children and adolescents. Joanna is a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor.
Joanna has experience working with individuals and families facing a variety of mental health and life challenges. Prior to joining Christian Counseling Associates, she served as a Trauma Counselor with the YWCA in York, Pennsylvania, providing counseling and support to survivors of sexual assault and other violent crimes through individual therapy, group counseling, and educational programs on the effects of trauma.
She has also worked as a Family-Based Mental Health Professional with Laurel Life, where she provided therapy and crisis intervention services for children, adolescents, and families experiencing behavioral, emotional, and substance-related concerns. This work included treatment planning, coordination with schools and community agencies, and providing on-call crisis support.
Joanna provides counseling for children, adolescents, and adults. She has experience working with a wide range of concerns, including:
