Joseph Maola, Ph.D.
Dr. Maola graduated from Duquesne University with a Master of Science in Educational Psychology in1971. He also received a Master of Arts in Counseling Services from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1973, and his Ph.D. from the University of Akron in 1974 with a major in Counselor Education. He has been on the faculty of Duquesne University and has been a visiting faculty member with Lehigh University and the University of Phoenix. He holds the following licenses and certifications:
- Licensed Professional Therapist – State of Pennsylvania
- National Certified Counselor (NCC)
- Certified Play Therapist (CPS)
- Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS)
Dr. Maola is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 40 years of academic, counseling, supervising and consulting experience. Dr. Maola has experience dealing with adolescents and adults in a variety of clinical settings.
Dr. Maola is skilled at working with individuals, couples, and families across the lifespan. He is trained to work with most areas of clinical disorder. Dr. Maola employs a faith-based approach using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems, and Play Therapy. He is also trained in Trauma focused therapy. Dr.mMaola has extensive experience in working with clients with a wide range of issues including children who have experienced abuse, neglect, and trauma.
