Nick earned a Doctor of Education degree from Virginia Tech in 1986 and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from California University of PA in 2020. He holds the following certifications:
- National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC)
- State of Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP)
- National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC)
