The Truth Frees Our Mind

The Truth Frees Our Mind

“So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”

John 8:31 – 32

The most important aspect of evaluating thoughts is developing the ability to “discern” thoughts based in truth, versus misguided, distorted thoughts, or that result in self-deception. At Christian Counseling Associates, we acknowledge that God is the source of all truth and wisdom. We can embrace this in our lives through a relationship with Him. The truth frees us from continued slavery to sin, and from various forms of self-deception.

Jesus says to us, “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever – the Spirit of truth…” (John 14:16-17a).

Renewing the Mind

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

Romans 12:2

Rooting out self-deceptive thought and beliefs is a daily process. Your Christian Counselor is committed to helping you along this journey. For now, an important step of mind renewal is to begin exploring thoughts and reflecting on deeper held beliefs. Renewing the mind involves embracing God’s truth about ourselves, others, and the world around us. Here is a journaling structure that can be helpful as you engage in daily thought reflection:
